We all know that lack of focus at work, feeling unmotivated with our goals and so much more! It is so human to lose focus or to have those days where we feel the mid afternoon slump extend into week long slump. In fact, adult life can feel like week after week of saying ‘just get to the weekend’ like a mantra until you retire!
You gotta laugh, but also, you gotta take accountability that it is not normal to be that foggy, unmotivated and lack lustre. There are things we can do to support ourself with our focus.
Supplementation and Nutrition - The biggest thing that helped me to upgrade my mind was to ensure there were no gaps in my micronutrition. Sadly, mass production of food and quality of soil often means we have some gaps in our nutrients and it only seems respectful to our body to ensure we are using the very best supplements so that our body and mind do not suffer. If we lack certain nutrients, it really can play havoc with the mood, mental clarity and performance. For this reason, I like to have a clean diet, free from too many processed foods & always use Life Long Vitality supplement. It really is worth looking at as it contains bioavailable forms of vitamins, minerals and superfoods to support our body, cellular health, brain health, protect our DNA’s health function, liver health, digestive health and so much more.
Another powerful supplement is mito2max. It supports mitochondrial function and is fab in the morning and when the mid afternoon slump comes. You can also go for a walk in your lunch hour and this can have a similar effect, oxygenating the body :)
Movement - Get moving. I like to move in the morning always to get my mind focused and body moving. You can do walks, it doesn’t have to be anything huge. Just a gentle walk, swim or yoga.
Try these oils ;
Rosemary - Rosemary essential oil can promote production of acetylcholine. This can pick up the nervous system and promotes focus and alertness.
Motivate Blend - A powerful exciting blend. It contains Peppermint Plant, Clementine Peel, Coriander Seed, Basil Herb, Yuzu Peel, Melissa Leaf, Rosemary Leaf, Vanilla Bean Absolute. I love it for counteracting my feelings of hopelessness and lack of faith in myself.
Citrus Oils - These balance the neurotransmitters in the brain and also can help the emotions via working directly on the limbic system. I LOVE any citrus for focus.
Melissa - While focus is important, another key indicator of brain health is recall or memory. One essential oil in particular is helpful when it comes to the mild memory problems associated with aging is Melissa essential oil.* No matter your age, using Melissa oil can support your cognitive health and memory.*
InTUNE Blend - I have shared this with parents of autistic and ADHD children, with some powerful results!
Spearmint Oil - Not only does it smell good, it improves focus, clarity and wakes you up!
Douglas fir - Like the deep and grounded roots of a fir tree, the aroma of Douglas Fir gives you a sense of focus. It can also help you change your mood if you need a more positive outlook.
Sleep - Have a read of my article on sleep, it’s a huge component in our mental clarity and wellbeing.
